Dr. Simon Nigen received his Ph.D. in medicine from the Université de Montréal, after completing a B.A. in pharmacy in 1993. He then continued his residency in dermatology at Laval University in Quebec City and his post-doctoral training (fellowship) at the University of Toronto in toxidermy – clinical pharmacology under the direction of Dr.Neil Shear. He currently works at Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital and runs the skin allergy clinic there. Nigen is an assistant clinical professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the Université de Montréal and head of the dermatology department at the Verdun Hospital. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Eczema Society. He was also Secretary – Treasurer of the Montreal Dermatology Society, Director of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Dermatology Association, Member of the Review Committee for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and member of many learned societies. He also works as a researcher – investigator since 2004 in many research projects and currently works at the Sima Research Center. It has more than 50 publications to its credit. His main interests are psoriasis, atopic eczema, urticaria, skin allergy, acne, contact eczema and photodynamic therapy. He has led numerous clinical studies in various areas of dermatology, including psoriasis, urticaria, atopic dermatitis, alopecia areata, common acne, skin aging, scar treatment, seborrheic dermatitis, onychomycosis and photosensitivity.
