Spongy hives

Surprisingly, hives can look "spongy"!

"Why?" you may ask. Well, when a catalyst causes the skin cells to release histamine, small thin blood vessels leak fluid into the top layer of the skin, the epidermis.

This causes parts of the skin to swell and develop into hives.
